By now, you've likely encountered lots of advice on navigating college, and some of these tips might sound familiar. Nevertheless, here are some recommendations that I strongly advocate for when embarking on your college journey:

  1. Join a club

The best thing you can do in college is get involved with the campus and network and there is no better way to do this than to join a club. This will also help you make and maintain friends throughout your college career. By far one of my greatest mistakes in college was not joining a club, I just did not really think it was that big of a deal until the end of the year when I found I could have done a better job getting involved and even making new friends.

  1. Do internships

So many people struggle to get a job out of college and a big part of that is the lack of job experience. This is also a great way to know if you are going to enjoy what comes after college, your job. Job fairs are a great way to find jobs and even network to get your name out their which could help you later on. If thats not convincing enough you also can get paid to do internships with very little pressure on the work you will need to do.

  1. Travel

Now I know we are all thinking the same, I am a broke college student I can not afford to travel. Believe it or not you will always think to yourself (or atleast I do) that I am always to broke to travel or it is not worth it. Especially with how expensive it can be but hear me out. College is the only time you have where you can actually get breaks and travel without having to worry about anything. Once you start working after college traveling is much more difficult and you have less freedom for how long the trip is. If you don't like traveling you can skip this, but if you do I highly recommend you take advantage of your breaks and go out expanding your horizons.

  1. Take finance classes (or any class to benefit your personal life)

Look beyond your major and consider taking classes that can positively impact your personal life. These courses can bring a sense of satisfaction and practical knowledge that extends beyond the academic realm. Often, these classes turn out to be the most enjoyable and rewarding, offering insights that enhance your overall life.

  1. Networking

Arguably the most crucial aspect of your college career is networking. It establishes the foundation for what follows after graduation and opens doors to numerous opportunities. Attend job fairs and club events; don't be intimidated, as people are generally friendly and open to conversations. Networking is an investment that pays off, connecting you with a wealth of possibilities for the future.
